Are cheap return flights a good deal or not? Many people are often confused by this question as they see 1 way flights being advertised for what seems like an amazing bargain.

In the UK for instance, airlines such as RyanAir and EasyJet constantly offer great 1 way fares. I have seen RyanAir in particluar advertise 1 way fares from a little as £1 to destinations across Europe.

Sadly however, when going to book the return part of the journey, once all the taxes and surcharges have been accounted for, the fare doesn’t prove to be as cheap as it may have seemed in the first place.

Cheap return flights on the other hand and in particular the chartered ones are normally quoted inclusive of all charges and taxes and appear to be extremely good value for money.

After what seemed like months of researching to find the whether 1 way fares or return flights were the best option, I find myself leaning towards the latter option more and more.

One of the reasons for my decision is not based solely on price but on the fact that the choice of airlines and flight availability is always usually far greater when booking return flights than the 1 way deals.

Of course, this is not meant to imply that you cannot find yourself cheap one way deals through diligent searching and a great deal of departure and return flexibility. I have found for myself that the time that it takes to search through what is both suitable and convenient is not compensated by a huge saving ion fare price with the 1 way option.

I would suggest that your time and efforts be spent elsewhere however I’m sure in saying this that I might come in for some criticism.

In doing so you will save yourselves a lot of time and effort by using the search engine provided by the independent supplier to crawl through sometimes hundreds of competing airlines for the best prices available rather than having to visit each site individually to find the best deals.

So, based on my research I am happy to conclude that cheap return flights are the choice for me because I get the flexibility with times and dates and more importantly I also get to choose who I fly with!

Therefore in my humble opinion, cheap return flights are definitely what I prefer to opt for.
